Schröder shines and loses, Theis makes his debut

Franz Wagner and his Orlando Magic can continue to hope for the knockout round of the new NBA tournament. Dennis Schröder and the Toronto Raptors missed out on a surprise. Fellow world champion Daniel Theis can finally prove his skills on the court again.

A few hours after signing with the Los Angeles Clippers, world champion Daniel Theis made his debut with his new club in the NBA and celebrated a success. The center won 106:100 with the team from California against his former club Houston Rockets, with the 31-year-old scoring two points and three rebounds in ten minutes of play. Theis had terminated his contract with the Indiana Pacers during the week and the Clippers announced the signing of the "big man" from Salzgitter on Friday. After stints with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Houston and Indiana, the Clippers are Theis' fifth stop. The former Bamberg player was under contract twice in Boston.

The German international was sidelined with the Pacers and is now getting a fresh start on the West Coast. In Los Angeles, the new signing is set to replace Mason Plumlee, who has injured his knee. The Clippers picked up their first win against Houston since signing superstar James Harden just over three weeks ago. Harden played a good game and hit an important three-pointer at the end to decide the game. Meanwhile, Franz Wagner once again shone as the top scorer for the Orlando Magic, scoring 21 points in the wild 103:97 win over the Chicago Bulls. His brother Moritz added ten points and it was Orlando's seventh win of the season in its twelfth game.

Dennis Schröder lost 105-108 with the Toronto Raptors despite a comeback against Boston, his third defeat in the last four games. Schröder was the game's top scorer with 23 points, while the World Championship MVP also had seven rebounds and six assists. It was also the Raptors' first game in the in-season tournament, a cup competition being held for the first time. Victor Wembanyama worked his way out of his personal slump with 27 points - but his San Antonio Spurs' losing streak continues. The 120:129 loss against the Sacramento Kings was their seventh defeat in a row. As a result, the Spurs were eliminated from the in-season tournament early. Another superstar scored his season-high: LeBron James scored a strong 35 points in his Los Angeles Lakers' 107:95 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Los Angeles Lakers, led by superstar LeBron James, secured a victory with a score of 107:95 over the Portland Trail Blazers. In a different game, the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers, with the addition of Daniel Theis, managed to defeat Houston Rockets 106:100, marking Theis' debut with his new team.
