Scandal pro banned for an "indefinite period"
Draymond Green is becoming more and more of a burden for his club, the Golden State Warriors. The occasionally brilliant basketball player is suspended again after punching his opponent in the face. It is the next chapter in a scandal-filled file.
NBA star Draymond Green has been suspended for an "indefinite period" by the North American professional basketball league after yet another derailment. The Golden State Warriors forward had punched opposing center Jusuf Nurkic in the face during the game against the Phoenix Suns. The NBA is taking Green's "repeated unsportsmanlike conduct" into account with the immediate suspension, the league announced.
Green, a four-time NBA champion with the Warriors, was suspended for five games in mid-November after a chokehold against Frenchman Rudy Gobert. After his foul against Nurkic, Green was sent off. Before he is allowed to return to the court, he must "fulfill certain conditions set by the league and his team", the NBA explained. All-rounder Green, who is an irreplaceable factor for his team in good moments, publicly apologized to Nurkic after the game and emphasized that he did not hit him on purpose. "I thought he was pulling on my hip and I jerked my arms to get a foul," said the 33-year-old. Green needed help, raged the hit Nurkic.
Green's second suspension of the current season is just another chapter in a long series of gaffes over the past few years. Prior to the two penalties this season, he last attracted attention in April when he stepped on Domantas Sabonis, who was lying on the floor, in the play-off game against the Sacramento Kings. In October 2022, Green escaped punishment from his own team after punching teammate Jordan Poole in the face during practice. In 2016, he was suspended for five games for a low blow to superstar LeBron James in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite the ongoing suspensions, the Golden State Warriors continue to rely on the talents of Draymond Green in basketball matches. Green's latest suspension comes after an altercation with Phoenix Suns' Jusuf Nurkic, further tarnishing his reputation in the NBA.
