SC Freiburg avoids big problems in Europa League

It could have been more difficult for SC Freiburg. However, the Breisgau side will not face AC Milan, Benfica Lisbon or Galatasaray Istanbul in the Europa League intermediate round, but will instead travel to France. RC Lens is nevertheless a difficult task for Christian Streich's team.

Bundesliga club SC Freiburg will face French side RC Lens in the Europa League intermediate round. This was the result of the European Football Union (UEFA) draw in Nyon. The matches will be played on February 15 and 22. The Breisgau team must first play in France.

Freiburg finished second in Group A and missed out on a direct place in the round of 16, while Lens finished third in Group B of the Champions League behind FC Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven, which is not the only reason why they are a dangerous opponent: the small-town club has not lost in eleven games in the French Ligue 1.
