Sahin warns BVB-Professionals against clapping for Thailand-Club
During Asia tour, Borussia Dortmund suffers a harsh defeat against a Thai League opponent. New coach Nuri Sahin is disappointed. He makes it clear for his pros for the season.
Borussia Dortmund's new coach Nuri Sahin will draw consequences from the 0:4 defeat in the test match against Thai League leader BG Pathum United. "Who doesn't make the basics won't play, that's it", said the new BVB coach after the disappointing performance at the start of the Asia tour in Bangkok. He will be very open, honest, and very critical about the performance, Sahin announced and spoke of a heavy defeat.
Melvyn Lorenzen (14.) gave the hosts an early lead. Teerasil Dangda (44.) and twice Jaroensak Wonggorn (65., 88.) built on the advantage and gave BVB an extremely uncomfortable evening on the pitch.
The game at BG Stadium in the Bangkok metropolitan area started a quarter of an hour later than scheduled. The reason was heavy rainfall that had passed through the area just a few hours earlier. Nevertheless, the stadium was filled with over 14,000 spectators. At halftime, Sahin changed ten players. Paris Brunner was the only one who remained on the pitch in both halves. However, Dortmund lacked precision in both halves in crosses and passes. The backline was often disorganized, and the four goals were the result.
"I know the boys are very tired, they've trained a lot, but that's no excuse", Sahin added. "Just because they're tired, I can't say that's an excuse." Above all, the defensive behavior did not please the successor of Edin Terzic, but he only criticized the young players.
However, he did not want to overrate the failed performance. "I know where to put this game", Sahin said, who had substituted ten new players in the second half on Sunday. After the eleven-hour journey to Bangkok, the BVB professionals had trained on Saturday evening at still 30 degrees and tropical-humid air. Before the game, it had rained heavily, causing the kick-off to be delayed. On this Wednesday, there is another test game against Cerezo Osaka in Japan.
Nuri Sahin, the Borussia Dortmund coach, expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's performance during the 0:4 loss to BG Pathum United, highlighting the importance of mastering the basics in soccer. After the game, Sahin announced that he would be direct and critical in his feedback to the players, acknowledging the heavy defeat.
