Bayern Munich soccer club - Rummenigge speaks on Kompany: A season without a trophy is not acceptable.
The recently appointed Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany isn't expecting a lengthy grace period, as per Munich board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. According to Rummenigge, if a coach can't win a title with Bayern within a year, it's too long.
During a manager meeting in Bielefeld, he told "Bild," "I wish him much success because if you don't manage to achieve a title with Bayern Munich after a year, it's already too long." Only a week prior, Kompany had agreed to a three-year deal with the German football titan.
Regarding his limited interactions with Kompany, Rummenigge described him as young and inexperienced, but convinced by him since he embodies the suitable philosophy. After consulting with Pep Guardiola, who played with the 38-year-old Belgian for a long time, Rummenigge felt assured by Guardiola's high opinion of Kompany.
Bayern's search for a new coach had been turbulent. The club had considered several candidates like Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick before they withdrew. Bayern's effort to revert the termination of Thomas Tuchel's contract in February was also unsuccessful. Ultimately, Kompany, who had recently been coaching FC Burnley, was chosen by the club.
Bayern is known to play a rather offensive and dominant style of football, which is what Kompany represents, according to Rummenigge. Additionally, his prior experiences as a player under pressure at Manchester City are beneficial factors for the role.
