Rummenigge confirms: Kompany set to assume control of FC Bayern.

Does time make things better? Bayern Munich seems to think so, as they're nearing the end of their search for a new coach. Board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has openly mentioned Vincent Kompany potentially taking the role. The details for this arrangement are still being ironed out.

When asked about Vincent Kompany's potential appointment as the new head coach of Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed the decision during an interview with Sky Italia. He also mentioned the assistance of former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola in the process. "We've decided to hire Vincent Kompany as our new head coach," Rummenigge said. "We're working on finalizing the details, and then the announcement will be official. Pep Guardiola has also helped us with Kompany. He's noted the young coach as very talented, and Pep's opinion is highly respected since he's well-acquainted with Vincent due to their time together at Manchester City."

Rumors suggest that the announcement of Kompany's appointment is set for Wednesday. Bayern reportedly agreed on a contract lasting until 2027 with Kompany, while also negotiating a release fee with his current club, FC Burnley. Sources indicate that this fee should range from ten to twelve million euros. Kompany's contract at Burnley would've expired in 2028.

Kompany previously led Burnley back to the Premier League in 2020-2021, and then won the league as their champion in the Championship season. However, they were relegated from the Premier League this season. If this appointment goes through, Kompany will have coached at three different clubs. After leaving Manchester City in 2019, he became player-coach at his previous club, RSC Anderlecht.

Bayern fans are eagerly awaiting the end of their long search for a new coach. Since the announcement of Thomas Tuchel's departure at the end of this season, several other candidates, including Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick, all declined the position. Even their previous efforts to keep Glasner at Bayern weren't successful, and ultimately, Tuchel tried but couldn't manage to hold onto Kompany.
