Role reversal - RTL presenter Jana Wosnitza takes part in "Unter uns"

RTL-Sports reporter Jana Wosnitza celebrates her acting debut. She will appear in the same program, "Under us," as RTL announced in Cologne on Tuesday. The 30-year-old will be seen in her role in October.

Wosnitza is excited about it, as she says: "Under us" is an institution in German television. Not without reason, the series has been on the air for 30 years. For me as a Cologne native, it's nice that "Under us" is both filmed and set in Cologne. With outdoor scenes, you can always recognize familiar corners of the city.

A camera doesn't take me out of my element

The hostess can confirm from her own words that her main job benefits her. "A camera in front of my face doesn't take me out of my element in itself. But: acting is a craft that one has to learn. Both professions, moderation and acting, are not comparable.

"That's why I was also very curious and full of anticipation when I received the inquiry," says Wosnitza. "I moderate live broadcasts for sports coverage all the time, so I have only one take. If something doesn't run smoothly, I have to improvise and react spontaneously. Acting is exactly the opposite. You have a script, there are texts, every scene is meticulously planned, and you can rehearse.

"Maybe I'll find it enjoyable"

RTL asked the moderator about plans to establish a permanent place in the acting industry. Her answer: "I'm not a trained actress and I'll leave that to those who can do it. But who knows, maybe I'll find it enjoyable, but for now, I'll stay with moderation."

She has never had bad experiences as a woman with knowledge of sports. "On the contrary, male friends and family members enjoy it very much that I make a Bundesliga grill and ask about the next stadium visit, and I'm the one who organizes the tickets and the date," says Wosnitza. "I talk privately crazy about football, soccer, or darts and never encounter opposition."

"Under us" airs from Monday to Friday at 5:30 pm on RTL.

Wosnitza's acting debut will take place in the colorful world of the soap opera "Under us," which is widely popular in Germany and has been airing for three decades. The RTL sports reporter is excited about her role reversal, switching from her usual position in front of the camera to acting behind it. This opportunity in her hometown of Cologne will allow her to showcase her acting skills, navigating a script and rehearsals, a departure from her spontaneous live sports broadcasts. Her unique experience in the media and television industry, combined with her passion for sports, has never led to any negative encounters due to her gender.

In a surprising turn of events, Wosnitza will be joining the cast of "Under us," showcasing her talents in a non-traditional role for her. The announcement of her acting debut was made in Cologne by RTL, and the 30-year-old's eagerly anticipated appearance will be in October, drawing curious fans from all over Germany. Her calm demeanor and ability to handle the pressure of sports broadcasts will translate well in her new role, ensuring that she'll effortlessly navigate the world of acting despite her lack of formal training.
