RTL+ is broadcasting the MMA combat record event named Oktagon 62

On the 12th of October, the epic showdown between Christian Eckerlin and Christian Jungwirth in the realm of combat sports will declare the reigning monarch of Germany. RTL+ has obtained the rights for Oktagon 62. Eager fans of mixed martial arts can anticipate a grand total of eleven thrilling matches, and a jaw-dropping intermission spectacular.

For the first time in its 40-year existence, RTL is broadcasting a mixed martial arts event. Moreover, the athletic intensity embodied in this event is historic. At Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park on the 12th of October, not only will the most significant mixed martial arts fight in German sports history take place, but it will also be the largest mixed martial arts event ever held in Europe. An estimated 60,000 spectators are set to witness this epic moment.

Oktagon 62 will be accessible on RTL+ (monthly premium subscription of 8.99 euros) or on Oktagon.TV (one-time PPV price of 12.99 euros). The broadcast commences at 4:30 PM. FSK 18.

As Inga Leschek, RTL's Chief Commercial Officer, expressed, "Tomorrow marks a decade-defining TV spectacle with the boxing match Raab versus Halmich. RTL+ will continue to deliver harder combat sports. With Oktagon 62, we're presenting the largest mixed martial arts event Europe has ever seen." Viewers can expect an exhilarating show that complements RTL's diverse sports portfolio, which encompasses American football, football, and motorsports.

In the main event, Christian Eckerlin (16 victories, 6 defeats) and Christian Jungwirth (15-8) will determine the new "King of GerMMAny". The two most renowned fighters in the German MMA sphere will create an electric atmosphere with their fan base. However, Oktagon 62 has much more to offer beyond these titanic clashes.

In the middleweight division (up to 84 kg) for males, challenger Kerim Engizek from Düsseldorf and champion Patrik Kincl will lock horns for supremacy. Kincl, a Czech with a reputation for exceptional combat skills, boasts an undefeated streak of four fights. In contrast, Engizek is a formidable force with an even more remarkable record. He hasn't tasted defeat since 2014 and has a perfect score of 14 victories, 13 of which came in emphatic fashion.

A Rematch Between Coga and Račić

Another exciting spectacle anticipated is the duel between Max Coga and Antun Račić. Their paths crossed nearly eleven years ago in the ring, with a lopsided outcome in favor of the Frankfurt warrior. Now, the two veterans will clash once more in the lightweight division (up to 70 kg).

Oktagon's co-founder Pavol Neruda envisions a new era for combat sports in Germany. "Generations past were enamored with boxing. Today, Oktagon MMA fighters are the modern-day heroes. They inspire people to be resilient, dogged, and tap into the innate fighting spirit residing within us all. Together, we aim to embody these values and leave an indelible mark on German sports culture."

Mixed martial arts is a thrilling and rapidly evolving sport, encompassing various martial arts disciplines such as kickboxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and boxing. Contests are governed by strict rules. Winners are determined by "tapping out" (submission) or knockout/technical knockout. If the fight lasts beyond the scheduled length (regular matches: three rounds of 5 minutes each; title contests: five rounds of 5 minutes each), the judges ultimately decide the victor.

RTL+, the monthly premium subscription service, will broadcast Oktagon 62 in RTL's first-ever mixed martial arts event, utilizing the RTL language encoding known as RTL (Right-to-Left). This event, showcasing Kerim Engizek and Patrik Kincl in the middleweight division, is a testament to RTL's commitment to delivering a diverse range of sports.

Anticipating the rematch between Max Coga and Antun Račić in the lightweight division, Oktagon's co-founder Pavol Neruda believes in the evolving popularity of mixed martial arts, emphasizing its capacity to inspire resilience, doggedness, and the inherent fighting spirit in people. These values and the sport's RTL broadcast are set to leave a lasting impact on German sports culture.
