The music festival Rock im Park in Nuremberg is set to have its hottest day on Saturday, as per the organizers. With approximately 70,000 attendees, the event will go on till Sunday at three stages, with about 70 bands scheduled to perform.
The festival has been relatively calm compared to last year, according to Sohrab Taheri-Sohi from Bavaria's Red Cross. "Fortunately, there haven't been any serious illnesses or injuries." The crowd is enjoying the event peacefully and responsibly. Of the over 700 interventions, only 22 were related to alcohol.
Many paramedics and paramedics were previously involved in the flood relief efforts in Bavaria before the festival, and this has had a lasting impact on the visitors. "Their hard work is still fresh in everyone's minds. We've received a lot of praise and appreciation," says Sohi.
Singer Henning Wehland of H-Blockx, who performed first on the main stage, exclaimed, "You're the best antidepressant for rock'n'roll retirees." The band, which had topped the charts with their debut album 30 years ago, is touring to celebrate their anniversary. H-Blockx last played on this stage 14 years ago.
Later on Saturday, the lineup consists of Austrian rock band Wanda, German rap-rock band Kraftclub, and Italian glam rockers Måneskin, who emerged winners of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.
Saturday at Rock am Ring, held at the Nürburgring, will see concerts by bands like Green Day and Billy Talent. This marks the second day of the event. The weather is expected to be sunny and warm in the Eifel region. The German Weather Service forecasts mostly sunny skies with temperatures ranging between 20 and 26 degrees in Rhineland-Palatinate.
