Robert De Niro expresses praise for his youngest daughter.
Robert De Niro is ecstatic these days, with a recent court verdict against his nemesis, Donald Trump, and the first birthday of his little daughter Gia. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the two-time Oscar winner shared his thoughts on family happiness and how his daughter brings youth and joy into his life.
The 80-year-old Hollywood icon gushed about Gia, saying she's a "fountain of youth" and a source of "pure joy." He mentioned how amazing it is when a young child is free from prejudices and just themselves. Despite being 80, with six other children and almost eight decades on this planet, De Niro feels he could still learn from her. That's why he remains "active in all areas" as his motivation.
While he's not a great golfer, don't expect De Niro to come back to acting any time soon. His busy 2024 includes appearances in two major productions - a double role in Barry Levinson's "Wise Guys".
A Large, Extended Family
There's a whopping 50 years between De Niro's first child and Gia. From his marriage to Diahnne Abbott, he has two children, Drena (52) and Raphael (47). With his former partner, Toukie Smith, he has twins, Aaron and Julian (28), his son Elliott (25), and daughter Helen (11). His granddaughter Gia's mother is De Niro's current partner, Tiffany Chen, whom he met on a film set in 2015 and has been in a relationship with since 2021.
The family's year was hard with a significant loss. The death of his grandson, Leandro Rodriguez, the only child of his eldest daughter Drena, at age 19 due to an overdose in 2022 was a devastating blow. De Niro stated in an interview with People that he hadn't believed it at first when he learned the tragic news, calling it a "shock." He realized the importance of spending time with loved ones after this heartbreaking event.
