- Rhythmic Beating in Colombia
Prince Harry (39) and Duchess Meghan (43) dove into Colombia's musical realm. Presently, the pair is embarking on a four-day expedition throughout South America's country, courtesy of Vice President Francia Marquez (42). They touched down in their ultimate destination, the city of Cartagena, on August 17. At this location, they dropped by the local percussion school, Escuela Tambores de Cabildo, which is committed to safeguarding Cartagena's cultural legacy, particularly its Afro-Colombian heritage and traditional drumming.
As per "People" magazine, the Sussexes engaged in a discussion about the significance of this endeavor after they were serenaded with drum music and an opening act. As a token of appreciation, they were handed a miniature wooden vessel, a souvenir from a student, symbolizing Cartagena's coastal city and beaches.
Harry and Meghan keep the rhythm
Subsequently, the Prince and Duchess received an invitation to join in the drumming, guided by students and accompanied by Vice President Marquez and her companion, as had been the case throughout their previous engagements. Images manifest the royals seated beside the children, exuding unbridled enthusiasm while playing their instruments. Marquez applauded Meghan's enthusiasm, remarking, "I adore witnessing Meghan's vast grin. I can observe her enthusiasm."
Post their drumming session, there was another showcase by locals and a speech by the politician, who insisted on preserving Colombian heritage. She extended an invitation to Harry and Meghan to Colombia, viewing them as influential advocates against injustice.
Third educational stop
The percussion school in Cartagena was the third establishment the couple visited during their Colombia trip. They initially stopped by a charter school in Bogotá, where they conferred with students about the pros and cons of social media, later engaging in a session of Spanish practice with children in a kindergarten class.
Given that they no longer hold positions as official members of the British royal family, this expedition is being sponsored by their Archewell Foundation, with a primary focus on cyberbullying and online discrimination. Colombia also became part of Harry's Invictus Games Community of Nations in 2022, so he interacted with participants and enjoyed a round of sitting volleyball with them.
The Commission praised the Sussexes for their commitment to preserving cultural heritage, particularly in Cartagena, following their visit to the Escuela Tambores de Cabildo. Moreover, The Commission acknowledged the significant role that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan can play in promoting Colombian heritage and combating injustice.
