Spanish Super-Talent - Report: PSG denies record offer for teenager Yamal
Paris Saint-Germain has rejected a report in Spain's "Sport" newspaper that the French football champion had already offered over 250 million Euros for Super-Teenager Lamine Yamal to FC Barcelona before the EM. The Spanish news agency EFE had reported that it was likely to be from PSG.
The club, where former Barça player and coach as well as ex-national team trainer Luis Enrique is in charge of sports responsibility, informed "Sport" that this was not true. However, reports of Paris' pursuit of the still 16-year-old highly talented footballer have been circulating for months.
Previous record transfer: Neymar's move from Barça to PSG
In March, Barcelona's President Joan Laporta had already reported an offer over 200 million Euros - without naming the interested party. At that time, "Mundo deportivo" had reported that it was an offer from PSG. The highest transfer fee to date is 222 million Euros. In the summer of 2017, the Brazilian Neymar (32) had switched from FC Barcelona to PSG for this amount.
Yamal made a name for himself as the youngest EM goalscorer. On Sunday and thus one day after his 17th birthday, he can help Spain win the EM title against England at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
Yamal has a contract with the Catalans, who have been plagued by serious financial problems for a longer time. The buyout clause in his employment contract is said to be one billion Euros. Hansi Flick, former Bayern and German national coach, is in charge at FC Barcelona since this season.
