- Remix comeback from "Girl You Know It's True"
In the late 1980s, the pop duo Milli Vanilli, assembled by German music producer Frank Farian (1941-2024), became a massive success. With hits like "Girl You Know It's True", "Blame It on the Rain", or "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You", band members Fab Morvan (58) and Rob Pilatus (1964-1998) stormed the international charts, particularly in the USA, between 1988 and 1990.
Abrupt Downfall After Lightning Career
However, their rise to fame came to an abrupt end in 1990 when it was revealed that the duo's frontmen hadn't sung their hits themselves and were merely lip-syncing and dancing to playback during live performances. Consequently, Morvan and Pilatus were promptly stripped of their Grammy, awarded in February 1990 for "Best New Artist".
While Rob Pilatus couldn't cope with the scandalous fall from grace and died of an overdose of alcohol and drugs in 1998, his colleague Fab Morvan continued as a solo artist without achieving major success.
Quirky Comeback with His Own Voice
Today, August 2, the artist is making a comeback to his old Milli Vanilli fans with a brand new version of "Girl You Know It's True", updated with a contemporary sound and, this time, featuring his own voice, which is surprisingly pleasant.
On his Instagram account, he celebrated his comeback with the following words: "It's necessary to close the circle to move on with your life. You'll finally get to hear what it's like to listen to me flip this track." He added, "It's never too late".
The reveal of their lip-syncing scandal led to the disbandment of Milli Vanilli, but now, Fab Morvan has released a remix of their hit song "Girl You Know It's True," showcasing his own vocals for the first time.
Fab Morvan's Instagram post announcing his comeback with the remix reads, "It's never too late to share your own voice in a remix of 'Girl You Know It's True'."
