Following the violent attack on the referee at a Turkish first division match, an arrest warrant has been issued for the club president of Ankaragücü, Faruk Koca, and two other suspects.

They are accused of injuring an official, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc wrote on the X platform. The previous evening, there had been violent scenes after the match between Ankaragücü and Rizespor. The referee Halil Umut Meler was attacked by several people, including Koca.

Pictures show Koca hitting the referee in the face with his fist. Meler fell to the ground while other people kicked him. Rizespor had scored the 1:1 equalizer in the seventh minute of stoppage time. In response, the Turkish Football Association postponed matches in all leagues indefinitely.
