The German TV show "Rote Rosen" and "Sturm der Liebe" from the ARD afternoon lineup are expected to be significantly shorter than before, with episodes dropping from 48 to 24 minutes each. Pending approval from the broadcasting institution committees, this adjustment is viewed as a chance to align the shows with modern consumption patterns and evolving trends in live TV and the video library. However, production of the series is slated to continue until 2027.

In the first half of the year, "Rote Rosen" attracted an average of 880,000 viewers, representing a 10.8 percent market share. In the same period last year, viewership stood at 1.03 million, with a 11.5 percent market share. While the number of viewers has dipped slightly, their engagement with the series has remained relatively steady. "Sturm der Liebe" managed to amass 1.07 million viewers and a 11.5 percent market share in the first half of the year, compared to 1.145 million and a 11.3 percent market share in the corresponding period in 2023.

For reasons previously reported in the press, both series will take extended summer breaks this year. "Rote Rosen" filmed in Lüneburg will be on hiatus for nine weeks instead of the normal six, disrupting the regular 2:10 p.m. broadcasting slot from June 17 to August 16. "Sturm der Liebe" (the 3:10 p.m. slot) is set to be absent for 13 weeks starting from May 21.
