soccer - Record: More than 20 million Bundesliga-Tickets sold
The 36 professional clubs of the Football-Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga sold more tickets than ever before in the previous season. Over 20.7 million tickets were sold between August 2023 and May 2024 for the games in the two highest leagues, as the German Football League (DFL) announced. The previous record of approximately 19.7 million tickets was surpassed. The average of 33,885 tickets was also higher than in all previous seasons.
"German professional football remains an absolute magnet for spectators, the influx of people to our clubs is unbroken, and that is independent of their league affiliation," said DFL managing director Marc Lenz at a press conference in Frankfurt am Main. It is striking how high the share of tickets sold in the 2. Bundesliga is. 8.8 million tickets were sold in the 2. League, and 11.9 million tickets in the 1. League.
According to DFL statements, the basis for the statistics, as is common practice since the recording of these figures in other leagues, includes the number of withdrawn tickets, including honorary and free tickets.
