Rapper Kontra K dropped by the DFB team headquarters before the round of 16 of the European Championship. He is not the first musician to fire up the German footballers during a tournament.

European Football Championship - Rapper Kontra K gives the German team a private concert

"Success is not luck", raps Kontra K in one of his most successful songs. National coach Julian Nagelsmann apparently fully agrees with this statement. After the win against Hungary in the group phase, Nagelsmann told the medium fussball.news: "I have been hearing this song for a long time. I can't sign all the lines, but there is a lot of truth in it."

It turned out well that the DFB team received a visit from the rapper on Thursday. He agreed to a private concert for the EM quarterfinal against Denmark. The German Football Association confirmed this to the news agency SID, who first reported it. In the team camp in Herzogenaurach, Kontra K also performed "Success is not luck" to great acclaim. Nagelsmann must have been pleased. And his players have been fans of the Berlin rapper for a longer time. The song is also played on their request before EM matches.

Kontra K, who is called Maximilian Diehn in civilian life, posted a video on Instagram of him riding a bike through the team camp.

Private concert: Kontra K is not the first musician in the EM camp

He is not the first musician to heat up the German footballers in a major tournament. At the EURO 2021, singer and avowed football fan Mark Forster performed in the team quarters – just before Germany played against England in the round of 16. Germany lost 0:2. Forster's performance beforehand received only moderate response from the players. But music can also work: When the country was going through its summer fairy tale at the 2006 World Cup, it was Xavier Naidoo's "This Way" that the team played throughout the tournament.

It is unlikely that Naidoo will cause a stir in Herzogenaurach this time around, after one or two mishaps. Maybe it will still be a summer fairy tale.

The national team marked their EM quarterfinal preparation by inviting Kontra K for a private concert, following his popular song "Success is not luck." Previously, musician Mark Forster also performed in the team quarters during EURO 2021, albeit with a less enthusiastic response from the players.
