"Pumuckl" extends into two additional periods

The first installment of a modernized "Pumuckl" captivated audiences last year on RTL+, with both young and old falling in love with the red-haired goblin. This has now prompted the makers to create a sequel, which includes both a new season of the series and a movie.

Following the triumph of "Neue Geschichte vom Pumuckl" on RTL+, it was only a matter of time before the magical creature returned. This time, Pumuckl will not only be featured in 13 new episodes on TV, but also in a film, under the working title "Pumuckl und das große Missverständnis."

Constantin Film has taken on the task of producing both the miniseries and the movie. The second season of the show will have 13 episodes, each with a duration of 25 minutes, and is set to air on RTL+ before being broadcast on RTL, TOGGO, and ORF.

Marcus H. Rosenmüller will once again be in the director's chair for both projects, while Korbinian Dufter and Matthias Pacht will write the screenplays. Support came from authors Katharina Köster and Julian Witt. The same cast will also return, including Florian Brückner as Florian Eder and Maxi Schafroth as the voice of Pumuckl.

Dufter of the Munich production company Neue Super shared his thoughts on the project, saying, "Pumuckl is a heartfelt affair for everyone involved. (...) We're sticking to the careful modernization. Now that Eder and Pumuckl have met, we're telling more big and small adventures filled with mischief, warmth, and humor - with a few surprises along the way."

Hauke Bartel, Head of Fiction at RTL Germany, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming projects, stating, "After the incredible platform and cross-channel success and consistently positive feedback on the new version, we're thrilled to provide all Pumuckl fans young and old with even more of the mischievous red-haired goblin, who will remain a permanent fixture in the lineup of RTL Germany."

Filming for the miniseries and movie has kicked off in Munich and the surrounding area. Although we'll have to wait until the end of 2025 to watch the new episodes and movie, anticipation is already building.
