Amanda Knox's untitled series has found a new leading actress. Filming for the Hulu project is set to start in October. Initially, Margaret Qualley was set to portray the well-known victim, but she announced her departure in April. Now, Grace Van Patten will step into the role instead.

Van Patten is a familiar face at Hulu. She is best known for their drama series "Tell Me Lies" and played the lead role in David E. Kelly's Hulu series "Nine Perfect Strangers." She also appeared in films like "A Violent Heart" and "Good Posture."

Amanda Knox Producing Her Own Story

Amanda Knox will be producing the mini-series through her company. She became famous in 2009 when she was sentenced to 26 years in an Italian prison for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. However, she was released after four years and, following a lengthy legal battle, was eventually declared innocent.

The series is based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, and her 16-year journey to prove her innocence. The project consists of a total of eight episodes, written by author KJ Steinberg known for "This is Us."

Margaret Qualley, who was initially chosen for the role of Amanda Knox, had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
