Broadcasting companies are set to offer football fans more than just live match coverage at the Euro 2024 tournament. In addition to the games, they have planned comprehensive programming outside the stadiums.
ARD and ZDF
ARD and ZDF are jointly covering the Euro 2024 event with a total of 34 out of 51 matches airing live. ZDF will be kicking off with live coverage of the opening match between Germany and Scotland on June 14, starting at 19:25 ("Sportstudio live") and the game kicking off at 21:00. The "ZDF-Morgenmagazin" (June 10-14, June 24-28, and July 8-12) and the "ZDF-Mittagsmagazin" (June 17-21 and July 1-5) will also provide daily updates about the tournament. New expert René Adler (39) will be featured in these programs.
On June 28 at 10:30 pm, Lutz van der Horst (48) and Fabian Köster (28) will present a special show on Euro 2024 in Germany. "Fußball - Ein Ball für zwei" will examine aspects like who profits from the game, fan and association opinions, and the reality of football stadium experiences. The show will delve into the hidden sides of the tournament.
Apart from the live broadcasts, another 17 matches, including the finals, will air on the First channel. Post-match coverage will include interviews, analyses, and an interactive football quiz hosted by Stephanie Müller-Spirra (41), comedian Malte Völz, and football expert Arnd Zeigler (58), straight after each game at the Bochum pub "Zum Kuhhirten."
RTL, MagentaTV, and ProSeven
Twelve matches will be broadcast on RTL via MagentaTV, a free-to-air television platform, including one quarter-final. MagentaTV will also exclusively air five matches, including a quarter-final. Along with these, a live talk show "Studio Pille-Palle" will premiere on June 14 with actors Fahri Yardim (43) and former national player Jonas Hector (34) as hosts. There will be ten 30-minute episodes and the first episode will air immediately after the opening match on June 14 at 11:30 pm, with on-demand availability on MagentaTV+. From June 24 to July 2, four episodes of the comedy show "Comedy Halbzeit," including Felix Lobrecht (35), will be aired.
RTL will offer a daily Stefan Raab (57)-devised live show starting on June 15, broadcasting during prime time. "RTL EM-Studio - All games, goals, emotions" will serve as a catch-up for fans with daily summaries and analyses of the games by football experts. Moderators Elton (53), Thomas Helmer (59), Jan Köppen (41), and Stefan Effenberg (55) will present the show. Additionally, there will be guest experts and live connections to fan zones, stadiums, and team quarters. To conclude each day's coverage, the "Nachtjournal EM-Spezial" will provide a review.
Following ProSeven's coverage in Düsseldorf on the 8th of June, "TV total" will again concentrate on the tournament. A two-hour "Euro 2024 special" is scheduled for June 12 at 20:15, led by "TV total" moderator Sebastian Pufpaff (47). This show will focus on the event and capture the essence of the UEFA Football European Championship for viewers.
