Boxing - Professional boxer Sturm wins rematch against Altay convincingly

Professional boxer Felix Sturm has also won his rematch against Sükrü Altay. The 44-year-old former world champion defeated the five years younger Turk in Ludwigsburg by technical knockout in the ninth of ten scheduled rounds.

The referee stopped the duel after Altay had taken heavy hits and appeared dazed. Sturm had laboriously won the first fight in the light heavyweight division 2:1 in March.

Sturm celebrated his 44th victory in his 53rd professional fight with his son Mahir on his shoulders. Afterwards, the five-time world champion, who will turn 45 at the end of January next year, left open the possibility of continuing his career.

"If I were to stop today, it was a very, very nice setting," said Sturm. He does not yet know what will happen and it is not up to him alone to decide, he said, referring to his family. "We will discuss it calmly. We'll let everything come to us. There are one or two offers, but we'll see what's viable and what's still worthwhile," explained the boxer with Bosnian-Herzegovinian roots.
