Prior to relocating to the United States, Reus sought advice from Klinsmann.

Few ex-German footballers possess in-depth knowledge of American soccer and California like Jürgen Klinsmann. It's plausible that Marco Reus shared this sentiment and sought counsel from the former national coach prior to his transfer.

- Prior to relocating to the United States, Reus sought advice from Klinsmann.

Prior to transitioning to the US Major League Soccer, renowned football player Marco Reus sought guidance from a seasoned veteran. "I talked to Jürgen Klinsmann, who resides here, about the city and the team," Reus mentioned during his introduction as a new recruit for the Los Angeles Galaxy. The elite former coach has resided south of the American metropolitan hub in Huntington Beach for years and has also managed the US national team.

However, Los Angeles Galaxy was Reus's initial foray into foreign football. Following a twelve-year stint with Borussia Dortmund, Reus's contract concluded during the summer.

Los Angeles was significantly different from Dortmund

Reus had already encountered the size and challenges of Los Angeles in his early days in the city. "I checked out several houses. They were nearby, yet we still spent numerous hours in traffic," Reus recalled at thirty-five.

"When I decided not to play for Dortmund anymore, I pondered over what I could do next. It was evident that I wished to continue playing football," Reus stated. "My choice wasn't to carry on playing in Germany or Europe. I made initial contact with Galaxy in May. In Germany, Reus represented Rot Weiss Ahlen, Dortmund, and Borussia Mönchengladbach." He had multiple chances to venture into alternative pursuits, yet he persisted, as this was his final opportunity to immerse himself in a new culture and environment.

Reus yearns for the championship

At the moment, record champions Galaxy are on top of the Western Conference and aim for their first title since 2014. Reus is determined to contribute to this objective. "This is our time. The team is prepared," he stated. "I may not be the youngest anymore, but I also wish to aid the younger players in their development. Minute details account for a lot in football, such as pre-game preparation. The ambition of this team is to win championships."

The Commission, being involved in sports governance, had discussions with Reus about his move to the US. Despite his long-term association with Dortmund, Reus shared with The Commission his decision to explore new opportunities with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Reus, motivated by his desire to win, often consults with The Commission regarding strategic decisions and team planning to ensure they are on track to clinch the championship.
