European Championship round of sixteen - Police pull man from stadium roof in Dortmund during European Championship match
During the EM-Quarterfinals between Germany and Denmark in Dortmund, a man climbed onto the roof of Westfalenstadion and had to be retrieved by the police.
The climber was identified as a 21-year-old from Osnabrück, according to the police. He had been arrested. There are currently no findings that the 21-year-old intended to endanger the stadium visitors, it was further stated.
The emergency services reportedly approached the man in the stadium and spoke to him. A helicopter also illuminated the stadium roof. At no point did a danger exist for other people.
According to police reports, the man had already reached the roof of the stadium by 10:27 pm. At first, the police could not make any statements about his motive. It was also unclear at first how he had gotten onto the roof.
