Pogacar flies over the Galibier and blows up the field of favorites

For a first sign from RadSport-superstar Tadej Pogacar: On the 4th stage, he makes the field of his team tired and then attacks himself. His major rival Jonas Vingegaard can only follow for a short time and loses a lot of time on the descent.

Top-Favorite Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) won the first Alpine stage of the 111th Tour de France. The Tour Champion of 2020 and 2021 secured his victory on the fourth day of the French Grand Tour, covering a distance of 139.6 kilometers from Sallanches to Valloire, ahead of Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and his Spanish teammate Juan Ayuso.

Pogacar took back the Yellow Jersey from Olympian Richard Carapaz of Ecuador (EF Education-EasyPost) with his overall twelfth Tour Etappensieg. His remarkably strong team perfectly prepared the attack about one kilometer before the summit of the legendary mountain, Galibier, and split the field of favorites with high tempo.

Tadej Pogacar continued his dominant performance in the Tour de France, extending his lead over Jonas Vingegaard in the sport of cycling. On a crucial stage, Pogacar's relentless pace left Vingegaard's challenge fading, further solidifying Pogacar's position as the clear favorite to win the Tour de France for the third time.
