Person convicted for racist insult against Rudiger
The career of football star Antonio Rüdiger is accompanied by constant racist insults - be it in the DFB team or at Real Madrid. In Spain, a person has been sentenced to an eight-month prison term on probation for such offenses.
A person who racially insulted Real Madrid football professionals Antonio Rüdiger and Vinícius Júnior in an internet forum has been sentenced to an eight-month prison term on probation. The Spanish record champion announced that the Criminal Court No. 5 of Parla handed down a corresponding guilty verdict against the defendant.
The accused person directed "serious racist attacks and insults" against our players Vinícius Junior and Antonio Rüdiger", Real Madrid stated in a club statement. The accused person is now banned from participating in the forum for 20 months.
The accused person was found guilty of two "infringements of moral integrity". This Spanish criminal offence covers actions that seriously undermine a person's dignity. In the case of the German national player Rüdiger, the offence was reportedly committed "with disregard for his religion".
The suspended prison sentence is conditional on the accused person participating in a programme for equality and the fight against discrimination. "Marca" published an apology letter from the convicted person, who assured that he "regrets" and "is ashamed" of his actions.
"Real Madrid, who appeared as a private plaintiff alongside Vinícius Júnior in the proceedings, will continue to fight for the protection of our club's values and the combating of any racist behaviour in the world of football and sport", the Champions League winner announced.
The individual who targeted Real Madrid players Antonio Rüdiger and Vinícius Júnior with racist accusations, both on the field and online, hails from Spain. Despite being a fan of soccer, their support for Real Madrid did not halt the use of hate speech, which led to legal consequences.
