Paris Saint-Germain set to shell out millions to Mbappé
Kylian Mbappé, renowned French footballer, has managed to clinch a victory in his legal standoff against his previous team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The French Sports Court has mandated PSG to shell out 55 million euros to Mbappé due to alleged unpaid wages and special payments.
Despite having a week to comply with the court's order, PSG has opted against adhering to it and is instead waiting for a verdict from a civil court. In a statement, the club argued that "due to the LFP commission's limited legal authority to make a conclusive decision in this matter, it must now be handled by another judicial body." As reported by AFP, a club source officially declared, "We will not pay!"
Outstanding payments of three months' salary?
There are claims that Mbappé's former club, which had earlier purchased him from AS Monaco for 180 million euros, still owes him three months' worth of unpaid salary. In addition, Mbappé and his representatives have requested payment of a percentage of the bonus for the recent contract extension and an additional special payment.
Mbappé, who moved to Real Madrid this summer following a lengthy negotiation period without a transfer fee, is reportedly earning a net salary of 15 million euros per season under his five-year contract. It is also speculated that he received a 100 million euro signing bonus upon joining Real Madrid.
An exemplary performance by Mbappé against Betis Sevilla, who were yet to register a win, on the first day of September, sealed them a 2-0 victory (0-0 at halftime). With his eighth attempt on goal, Mbappé secured the lead for Real Madrid with his first La Liga goal, and later added to his tally by converting a penalty kick. Despite these accomplishments, Real Madrid remains four points behind arch-rivals Barcelona, who have clinched four straight victories under the new coaching leadership of Hansi Flick.
Despite the financial dispute between Kylian Mbappé and Paris St Germain, the French forward continues to shine on the field. In a recent match against Betis Sevilla, Mbappé scored his first La Liga goal for Real Madrid, leading his new team to a 2-0 victory, despite Real Madrid trailing at halftime.
Despite the victory, the financial issues between Mbappé and Paris St Germain remain unresolved. The French Sports Court has ordered PSG to pay Mbappé 55 million euros due to alleged unpaid wages and special payments, but as of now, PSG has yet to comply with this order.
