NBA - Orlando sets club record with ninth win in a row

The Orlando Magic, led by German brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner, have notched up their ninth win in a row in the NBA - setting a club record in the process. The Magic won 130:125 (58:61) against the Washington Wizards in the North American Basketball League.

Franz Wagner was the game's top scorer with 31 points, including twelve free throws, eight assists and seven rebounds for the 22-year-old international. Brother Moritz Wagner contributed a strong 18 points and six rebounds from the bench.

Orlando has moved up to second place in the Eastern Conference with its winning streak. The Magic had previously won nine in a row three times, most recently in the 2010/11 season. On Saturday (local time), they face the Brooklyn Nets, where they suffered their last defeat in mid-November.

Kevin Durant overtakes Moses Malone

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns achieved a personal milestone. The star player is now one of the ten most successful scorers in NBA history. The 35-year-old Durant overtook Moses Malone in the all-time scoring list in his Suns' 111:119 win over the Denver Nuggets.

In a duel featuring two German players, the New York Knicks with Isaiah Hartenstein won 119:106 against the Toronto Raptors with national team captain Dennis Schröder. Schröder scored ten points and nine assists, while Hartenstein came off the bench to score four points and grab a strong eight rebounds.

The Dallas Mavericks lost 94-108 to the Memphis Grizzlies without Luka Doncic, who was absent at short notice for personal reasons, and Maxi Kleber, who is still injured. The San Antonio Spurs lost 106-121 at the New Orleans Pelicans and conceded their 14th defeat in a row. Number one draft pick Victor Wembanyama had to sit out due to hip problems.
