Where does Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio, l.) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) go in the last season of "Cobra Kai"?

Cobra Kai - One must know this for the start of season 6

Netflix releases new seasons of successful series like "Stranger Things" in two parts, a fact that fans have grown accustomed to. However, for the sixth and final season of "Cobra Kai," the streaming service goes even further: The final season of this Karate Kid spin-off comes in three parts. With 15 episodes instead of the usual ten, the grand finale of the Martial Arts Saga is as extensive as no other season before.

The first five episodes of the sixth season are set to premiere on Netflix on July 18, 2024. The next installment is then scheduled for November 28, 2024. The final five episodes are planned for 2025, but an exact release date for them is not yet known.

"Cobra Kai": The Story of the Last Season

Throughout the five seasons, the old Karate Kid rivals Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio, 62) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka, 58) have become friends. But it's only in the sixth season that they truly work together. As series co-creator Jon Hurwitz (46) revealed to "Entertainment Weekly," Johnny joins Daniel, merging Eagle Fang Dojo into Miyagi-Do. But can the impulsive Johnny sustain Daniel's gentle, defensive approach? According to Hurwitz, this is one of the central questions in Season 6.

Together, Daniel and Johnny prepare their proteges for the international Karate Tournament Sekai Taikai. But can their former rivals Sam (Daniel's daughter) and Tory unite?

The legacy of "Karate Kid" legend Mr. Miyagi seems to play an even greater role in the last season, as suggested by the trailer. This is indicated at least by the trailer, which shows Daniel opening a box that his old master (played by the late Pat Morita in the films) had hidden. What's inside, the trailer doesn't reveal. Hurwitz only hints that the contents will impact Daniel's relationship with his deceased mentor.

"Cobra Kai" Season Six: "Kreese More Dangerous Than Ever"

At the end of the fifth season, Daniel defeated his adversary Silver with his famous Crane Kick. Silver's students abandoned their sensei, and the infamous Cobra Kai dojo was on the brink of extinction. But at the end of the season, a new threat for Daniel and Johnny was hinted at: Their old rival John Kreese (Martin Kove, 78) escaped from prison. And after being humiliated by Daniel and Johnny, he doesn't return to the San Fernando Valley peacefully.

According to Hurwitz, Kreese in Season 5 was "potentially more dangerous than ever." Kreese was never particularly gentle as the main antagonist in the "Karate Kid" films and the previous "Cobra Kai" seasons, but Hurwitz admits that he at least had a "soft spot" for his old protege Johnny. However, this weakness is now gone.

And Kreese isn't alone. He teams up with Kim Da-Eun, the granddaughter of his teacher Kim Sun-Yung, who caused trouble with Silver in Season 5. "It's going to be great to see them team up - great for us as viewers, but not necessarily for Johnny and Daniel," Hurwitz told "Entertainment Weekly."

Johnny as the True Hero: The Curious Origin of "Cobra Kai"

"Cobra Kai" comes to an end after six seasons and decades of history. Time for a brief look back at a successful story. The series has an intriguing origin. In 2007, William Zabka appeared in a music video by the band No More Kings as a caricature of his "Karate Kid" character Johnny. In interviews, he described Daniel's antagonist as the true hero of the film series.

The narrative referenced "How I Met Your Mother" (2005-2014) a few years later. In an episode of the hit sitcom ("The Bro Mitzvah", Season 8, Episode 22), Zabka and Macchio appeared as guest stars. In this episode, Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris, 51) expresses his hatred for the good Daniel and considers Johnny, the anti-hero from "Karate Kid," to be the true star. This cultural discussion influenced "Cobra Kai," which started with a similar premise.

The first season of "Cobra Kai" premiered on YouTube Red in 2018, which was then called the paid service of the video platform. With the fourth season, the action-dramedy moved to Netflix, along with the older episodes. The first two seasons became Netflix's most successful formats.

The sixth season of "Cobra Kai" is featured in an interview with Jon Hurwitz in "Entertainment Weekly," where he reveals that Johnny joins forces with Daniel and merges Eagle Fang Dojo into Miyagi-Do.Netflix's release strategy for the final season of "Cobra Kai" is unique, with 15 episodes split into three parts, making it the most extensive season yet.Fans of "Stranger Things" and "Cobra Kai" on Netflix can look forward to different release dates for the sixth season, with the first five episodes premiering on July 18, 2024, followed by the next installment on November 28, 2024, and the final five episodes scheduled for 2025.According to Hurwitz, the dynamic between Daniel and Johnny in the final season is one of the central themes, as Johnny attempts to maintain Daniel's gentle, defensive approach at Eagle Fang Dojo. The legacy of Mr. Miyagi is highlighted in the trailer for the final season, with an enigmatic box from his old master hinting at a significant impact on Daniel's relationship with his deceased mentor. In the new threat for Daniel and Johnny, their old rival John Kreese escapes prison at the end of the fifth season and returns more dangerous than ever, teaming up with Kim Da-Eun to create a formidable duo for the last season of "Cobra Kai."
