Novak Djokovic bursts into tears after Olympic gold

For the first time in his illustrious career, tennis star Novak Djokovic wins Olympic gold. Against the favored Carlos Alcaraz, the 37-year-old Grand Slam record champion delivers a masterclass on clay - and breaks down in tears after the match.

Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic finally clinched Olympic gold on his fifth attempt, completing his collection of major titles. The Serbian Grand Slam record holder defeated Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling final in Paris, 7:6 (7:3), 7:6 (7:2), becoming the oldest Olympic champion since tennis' return to the Summer Games in 1988. Alcaraz had won the French Open at the same venue in June.

Italy's Lorenzo Musetti secured bronze on Saturday, defeating Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime 6:4, 1:6, 6:3. Musetti had earlier beaten Tokyo Olympic champion Alexander Zverev, who lost the French Open final to Alcaraz. The German team left Paris without a medal.

Just three weeks after their last meeting in the Wimbledon final, which Alcaraz won comfortably in three sets, the duo faced off again in front of 15,000 spectators on a packed Court Philippe Chatrier. In a showdown between the oldest and youngest men's finalists of the modern Olympic tennis era, Djokovic started strongly but Alcaraz took control midway through the first set.

The Serb weathered tough periods and claimed the first set after 92 minutes. In a match that was exciting at times, Djokovic remained effective in crucial moments and reached his goal after 2 hours and 50 minutes, breaking down in tears immediately after the match.

After securing his Olympic gold, Novak Djokovic expressed his love for tennis, stating that it has been his passion since he was a child. Despite being the oldest Olympic champion in tennis since 1988, Djokovic's victory in the Tennis final further solidified his place as one of the greatest players in the sport.
