Biathlon World Cup - Norwegians strike back: biathletes come out on top

The German biathletes were unable to repeat the strong team result from the sprint race in Lenzerheide due to weak shooting performances in the Norwegian gala performance. In the triple success of the Scandinavians, Philipp Horn was the best German in seventh place in the pursuit over 12.5 kilometers.

The 29-year-old missed three times in four shooting attempts. The victory was secured by the new overall World Cup leader Johannes Thingnes Bö (3) ahead of Endre Strömsheim (2) and Sturla Holm Laegreid (1).

Johannes Kühn managed a strong final lap. He finished in ninth place after four penalties, with Justus Strelow crossing the finish line directly behind him. Strelow only missed one target and worked his way up a total of eight places.

Problems at the shooting range

Benedikt Doll, who had won the opening event in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, and team-mate Philipp Nawrath had major problems at the shooting range. The two had to shoot seven extra rounds. The duo finished 17th and 18th, while David Zobel also fought his way up eight places to finish 31st with three penalties.

"It started a bit on the track, I had to really struggle to keep up," said Doll in a ZDF interview. "And at the shooting range, the things that worked on their own yesterday didn't work at all. It was a struggle and I lacked composure. That's biathlon."
