Concern for Neil Young - North American tour is canceled

Concern for Canadian Singer-Songwriter icon Neil Young (78). As he himself stated on his official website, his current tour had to be halted indefinitely. The reason: Some members of his band Crazy Horse had fallen ill after the last performance in Detroit in mid-May and had not fully recovered yet. It is unclear whether Young himself is also affected or what kind of illness it is.

Seven shows in Canada and three performances in the US, which were planned until the end of September, have been cancelled as a result. The statement further states that attempts will be made to make up some of the cancelled dates after the "big, unexpected break." However, a timeframe for the make-up concerts was not mentioned. "We know that many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding and patience," it continues.

Neil Young suffered a heart attack nearly 20 years ago

Neil Young, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child, has had to deal with major health issues for decades. In the spring of 2005, he had to undergo surgery for a life-threatening brain aneurysm after suffering massive vision loss. Following a reportedly successful, minimally invasive procedure, he collapsed on the side of the road two days later and passed out. According to previous media reports, Young had even suffered a heart attack at that time, but was saved by the doctors. A few months after this incident, the musician was back on stage.

Neil Young is considered one of the most influential musicians in North America. In his work, he has combined various music genres such as Folk, Country, Blues, Rock and Pop for decades. Among his greatest hits are "Heart of Gold," "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)," and "Rockin' in the Free World." He is considered a pioneer for countless Rock bands and a visionary of the legendary Grunge movement of the 1990s, which inspired a whole generation with bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden.

The tour stop in Detroit marked the last performance for Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse before the illness struck. Despite the concern for Neil Young's health, it's uncertain if he too has fallen ill. The halt of the tour indefinitely affected seven shows in Canada and three performances in the USA, including plays of "Rockin' in the Free World." Neil Young's band, Crazy Horse, had to unfortunately cancel performances due to illness, echoing his past health struggles, such as a heart attack nearly 20 years ago.
