Ice hockey - NHL: Sharks get first away win of the season
The San Jose Sharks have notched up their first away win of the season in the NHL. The team led by national ice hockey player Nico Sturm won 6:3 (1:1, 2:0, 3:2) against the New Jersey Devils. Goalkeeper Kaapo Kahkonen in particular put in a strong performance, saving 44 shots on goal.
The Sharks, on the other hand, managed 18 shots of their own for six goals. They had managed that many in their previous ten away games. Jacob MacDonald and Anthony Duclair each scored twice, Mikael Granlund scored one goal and set up two, William Eklund scored into the empty net shortly before the end. Nico Sturm remained without a goal in around 14 minutes on the ice.
Despite their first away win of the season, the Sharks still have the worst record in the league. However, after a historically weak start to the season, the team from California has recently managed three wins from four games.
In the second game of the evening, Tim Stützle's Ottawa Senators lost 2:4 at the Columbus Blue Jackets after taking a two-goal lead and having a clear advantage. Stützle went about 22 minutes on the ice without scoring a goal. It was the third defeat in a row for the Senators.

The victory against the New Jersey Devils was a significant one for German player Nico Sturm and the San Jose Sharks, as it marked their first away win in the NHL this season. This victory came against a strong team from the USA, the Newark-based New Jersey Devils. The Sharks' dominance on the ice resulted in an impressive 6-3 scoreline, with players like Jacob MacDonald, Anthony Duclair, and Mikael Granlund contributing multiple goals and assists. However, despite this Away win, the Sharks still hold the worst record in the NHL. The New Jersey Devils, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back when they face another NHL team in their next game.
