Ice hockey - NHL: Seider provides two assists in Detroit win
With two assists, professional ice hockey player Moritz Seider has led his Detroit Red Wings to another victory in the North American NHL. In the 5:4 away win after overtime against the Montreal Canadiens, the 22-year-old was directly involved in his team's 3:0 and 4:2 goals.
The defenseman now has 13 assists this season. Detroit is third in the Atlantic Division with 29 points, which would be enough to secure a direct place in the play-offs at the end of the regular season.
Tim Stützle also got on the scoresheet for the Ottawa Senators. The 21-year-old set up the final goal in the Canadiens' 2-0 win over the Seattle Kraken. It was only the ninth win of the season for the Senators, leaving Ottawa in last place in their division. However, the Canadian capital team has also played the fewest games in the entire league so far. Goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer did not play for Seattle.
There was nothing for the other two German NHL pros who were in action on Saturday night. John-Jason Peterka and the Buffalo Sabres clearly lost 2:6 at the Carolina Hurricanes, Peterka remained without a goal. The same was true for Lukas Reichel, who lost 3-1 with the Chicago Blackhawks against the Winnipeg Jets.
