Ice hockey - NHL: Edmonton Oilers' winning streak snapped
The Edmonton Oilers' winning streak in the NHL has come to an end just before the team's potential record. The team led by national ice hockey player Leon Draisaitl lost 4:7 to the Tampa Bay Lightning after eight recent victories.
The Oilers were 3:2 ahead after two periods, but conceded five goals in the final period. Draisaitl remained without a goal or an assist. Steven Stamkos scored four goals for the visitors from Florida, goalie Andrej Wasilewski saved 53 shots. NHL top scorer Nikita Kutscherow contributed a goal and two assists and now has 50 scoring points. The Oilers win record stands at nine victories. The team now has 13 wins, 13 losses and one loss after overtime.
No successes for German NHL pros
The other German professionals in the National Hockey League also lost with their teams. Tim Stützle lost 2:4 with the Ottawa Senators against the St. Louis Blues and also failed to score a goal, as did Moritz Seider, who lost 1:2 with the Detroit Red Wings against the Carolina Hurricanes. Lukas Reichel and the Chicago Blackhawks even lost 7-1 to the Seattle Kraken, for whom the injured national goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer was not even in the squad.

The Tampa Bay Lightning, hailing from Florida, dealt a significant blow to the Edmonton Oilers' winning streak in the NHL. Leon Draisaitl, a key player for the Oilers and a national ice hockey player from Germany, failed to contribute during the game. The Lightning, currently led by NHL top scorer Nikita Kutscherow, managed to turn the tide in the third period, ultimately securing a 7-4 victory over the Oilers. Meanwhile, other German NHL professionals also experienced losses with their respective teams, including Tim Stützle and the Ottawa Senators, Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings, and Lukas Reichel and the Chicago Blackhawks.
