Who wants to be a millionaire? - Next week in September, three million euros.

Not much longer now, as "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is set to return after a nearly three-month summer break, with a new edition of the popular "3-Million-Euro-Week". As announced by the broadcaster RTL, Günther Jauch (68) will be back on TV on Monday, September 2, with the sixth edition of this special week.

This means that from September 2 to 5, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" (also on RTL+) will air every evening from 8:15 PM to 12:00 AM, with a 20-minute "RTL Direct" break at 10:15 PM each night. In these special episodes, contestants will have the chance to win three million euros instead of the usual one million.

How the "3-Million-Euro-Week" works

So far, no contestant has been able to take home the three million euros. The concept is as follows: The first three episodes of the "3-Million-Euro-Week" follow the regular gameplay of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". Contestants have the chance to qualify for the final on Thursday by winning at least 16,000 euros in the first three episodes.

In the final, Günther Jauch offers the contestants a deal: they can give up most of their winnings from the earlier rounds to play again, with the prize money tripled. However, they can also choose to keep their full winnings.

Final round with additional jokers

In the final round, each contestant gets four jokers. Additionally, all contestants reach a safety level at the 1,000-euro question. The final round consists of two offer rounds. In the first round, money is offered to the contestant. In the second round, three additional jokers are up for grabs. From then on, any combination of jokers is allowed, and as many can be used for a question as needed. The 50:50 joker, however, can only be used once per question.

If a contestant manages to win three million euros in the end, it would be the biggest win in the history of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". RTL last aired such a "3-Million-Euro-Week" in January.

After the prolonged summer break, viewers are eagerly anticipating the return of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?", with the question "Who's going to be a millionaire?" echoing in many minds. During the "3-Million-Euro-Week", contestants will have the chance to answer this question, aiming to win an unprecedented three million euros instead of the usual one million.
