Speculations continue about Mats Hummels' future. According to a "Kicker" report, German football champion Bayer Leverkusen is dealing with the former Dortmund player. There are thoughts about the 35-year-old, whose contract at Borussia Dortmund was not extended despite a strong second round, the "Kicker" reports. Hummels is therefore being considered as a replacement for national player Jonathan Tah, who is reportedly going to agree terms with FC Bayern Munich. The former national player would fit perfectly as a leader and good communicating defensive chief in Xabi Alonso's possession-based football at Leverkusen. However, Hummels' tempo could be an obstacle, according to the "Kicker".

Recently, Hummels reacted to the speculations about his professional future with humor. "Difficult to find a jersey for a sport where there are no stupid rumors afterwards", wrote the 35-year-old defender in a recent Instagram story alongside a selfie from a fitness studio. He accompanied this with a laughing smiley.

Hummels was already linked with Spanish LaLiga side RCD Mallorca. In Italy, it was reported that Hummels would join AS Roma in the Serie A. However, there is also supposedly interest in him from AC Milan and Saudi Arabia.
