- New crimes not until September
Since late May, there hasn't been a new "Tatort" or "Polizeiruf 110" on the first channel to watch. And an end to the summer break is still not in sight. However, it is now clear that the first new crime drama will be broadcast on September 15th at 8:15 PM.
In "Tatort: Deine Mutter", the Vienna team led by Moritz Eisner (Harald Krassnitzer, 63) and Bibi Fellner (Adele Neuhauser, 65) is investigating. With this crime drama, the multi-award-winning Austrian-Israeli director Mirjam Unger (53, "Tage, die es nicht gab") makes her "Tatort" debut.
A gangster rapper crime drama to end the summer break
In "Deine Mutter", the Vienna investigators must solve the death of a gangster rapper who was found dead near the studio of his rival after a beef (musical dispute with explicit threats). Eisner and Fellner look behind the facade of publicity, hate, and fake in their investigations and discover their own rap tendencies.
As the station further reports, this crime drama was shot at original locations in the Vienna hip-hop scene. For even more authenticity, rapper Aleksandar Simonovski aka "Yugo" (born 1995) and rapper Kiara Hollatko (29) aka KeKe will be in the cast.
Two other guest roles are also noteworthy: Edita Malovcic (46), who played the state's attorney Hanna Lennerz in four Til Schweiger "Tatorts" from 2013 to 2016, will be seen as the mother of the victim in the new Vienna crime drama. And Hary Prinz (58), who has played the chief investigator in the Styrian crime dramas since 2014 and has been part of the investigation team of the crime series "Die Toten vom Bodensee" since 2015, will be seen as a seasoned underworld boss in "Deine Mutter".
Later start of the season
The new Sunday crime drama season starts relatively late this year. Last year, fans were able to enjoy the first new case on August 27, 2023: "Polizeiruf 110: Du gehörst mir" with Claudia Michelsen (55) as the chief investigator.
The year before, the "Tatort: Das Verhör" from Ludwigshafen marked the start of the season on September 4, 2022.
The first new crime drama of the season, titled "Deine Mutter," is set to air on September 15th at 8:15 PM, marking the debut of director Mirjam Unger in the "Tatort" series.
This gangster rapper crime drama will feature Edita Malovcic, known for her role in Til Schweiger's "Tatorts," and Hary Prinz, renowned for his roles in "Die Toten vom Bodensee" and Styrian crime dramas, in notable guest roles.
