New Bentley Continental GT travels electrically
Bentley will transform into an electric brand in the coming years. A significant step in this direction is now being made with the new Continental GT. The price is expected to be above €250,000.
Bentley has presented the fourth generation of its bestseller Continental GT. The two-door car, which is now over 4.9 meters long, will be available as a Coupe and a Convertible GTC in the third quarter of 2024. Prices are expected to start at around €250,000.
Optically, the 2+2-seater offers a high recognition value. Despite a length increase of a few centimeters, the new model looks more rigid compared to the previous model.
Notably, the new headlight design uses LED Matrix Technology. In the oval headlight units, LED Matrix Technology is used. The integrated LED daytime running light looks like an eyebrow that extends zipper-like into the vehicle sides.
Hybrid or fully electric
The Continental GT is initially available as a Plug-in Hybrid, which combines a 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo with 441 kW/600 PS with an electric motor with 140 kW/190 PS. The system power is 575 kW/782 PS with 1000 Newtonmeters of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed double-clutch transmission. The 2.5-tonner is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 335 km/h in the closed version. For the GTC, it is 3.4 seconds and 285 km/h.
The drive system also allows for electric-only driving. The 26 kWh battery limits the emission-free operating range to approximately 80 kilometers. With a 11 kW alternating current input, the battery is expected to be recharged in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
With All-Wheel Steering, Torque Vectoring, Locking Differential, and new Double Ventilated Shock Absorbers, the Gran Turismo promises a high degree of driving dynamics. An optional Carbon Ceramic Brake System with 44 or 41 centimeter brake discs is available.
The new Continental GT offers a spacious cockpit with a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system with a large display that can be hidden. In Digital Detox mode, passengers look at three small round instruments instead of a large screen.
The whole thing is embedded in an ensemble of noble materials and a lot of leather. Among the special features are a climate control system with air ionizer and a Naim Audio System with 18 speakers.
The luxurious Bentley Continental GT, now available in its fourth generation, will be released as a Coupe and Convertible GTC later in 2024. Despite its length growth, this 2+2-seater is visually more rigid, boasting a new LED Matrix Technology headlight design.
In line with Bentley's upcoming electric transformation, the Continental GT is initially launched as a Plug-in Hybrid, combining a powerful 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine with an electric motor, offering an emission-free driving range of approximately 80 kilometers.
