Nepali sherpa achieves milestone by climbing Mount Everest for 30th occasion.
Regular climbers typically require a few days to scaling the peak of Everest, with very few mountaineers achieving multiple ascents within a brief period.
Kami Rita Sherpa, aged 54, scaled the 8,849-meter (29,032-foot) summit through the conventional southeast ridge route, as per Nepali tourism official Khim Lal Gautam.
Kami Rita ascended the peak for his 29th time on May 12, breaking his own record in the process.
Gautam, chief of the expedition monitoring and facilitation field office at the base camp, shared this news on social media platform X, declaring: "He achieved his 30th ascent to the summit of the world."
Kami Rita first realized his ascent to Everest in 1994 and has done so almost every year since, save for three years when authorities prohibited climbing for various purposes.
Another sherpa climber currently holds the record for the most Everest summits at 27.
Mountain climbing remains a significant activity for Nepal's tourism industry, generating income and job opportunities within the country, being home to eight of the world's 14 tallest peaks.
Further details regarding Kami Rita's climb on Wednesday morning were being awaited, according to officials.
