Basketball - NBA: Wagner brothers and Orlando lose again

The two basketball world champions Franz and Moritz Wagner have conceded their second NBA defeat in a row with the Orlando Magic.

Orlando lost 111-121 at the Cleveland Cavaliers despite an outstanding performance by Paolo Banchero. The 21-year-old scored 42 points, but was on his own most of the time.

Franz Wagner had a poor evening, converting just three of his 16 shots from the field, including no successful three-pointers in five attempts. The 22-year-old finished the game with 14 points and nine assists, while his brother Moritz contributed eleven points.

Defeat for Schröder and Toronto

There was also nothing for national team captain Dennis Schröder and the Toronto Raptors. The Canadians lost 103:112 at home to the Miami Heat and conceded their fourth defeat in the last five games. Schröder disappointed with nine points and only four of 18 shots made.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers with Daniel Theis celebrated their second win in a row. The Californians won their home game against the reigning champions Denver Nuggets 111:102. Theis scored eight points and his eleven rebounds were the second-best figure in the entire game.

Doncic shines in Mavs victory

Meanwhile, the two top stars Luka Doncic and Joel Embiid delivered a gala performance. Doncic scored a triple-double in the Dallas Mavericks' clear 147:97 home win against the Utah Jazz. The 24-year-old finished with 40 points, eleven assists and ten rebounds. Maximilian Kleber once again did not play for the Texans due to the after-effects of his toe injury.

Embiid broke the magic mark of 50 points for the sixth time in his career in his Philadelphia 76ers' 131:126 away win against the Washington Wizards. "Sometimes your team needs you to be a playmaker, sometimes they need you to score. And I felt like it was one of those nights where I needed to be aggressive and get it going," Embiid said.
