National coach Nagelsmann backs Werder striker
Julian Nagelsmann makes his debut as DFB coach against the USA and Mexico. Ahead of his first home game against Turkey on November 18, the former Bayern coach is relying on many tried-and-tested players. However, he will have to do without the injured Jamal Musiala. Meanwhile, the striker casting continues.
Without Jamal Musiala, but with newcomers Marvin Ducksch and Janis Blaswich, national team coach Julian Nagelsmann continues his preparations for the home European Championship. For the international matches against Turkey in Berlin (November 18) and Austria in Vienna (November 21), the Werder Bremen striker and the RB Leipzig goalkeeper are in the 27-man squad for the first time, while Musiala is out due to a muscle injury.
Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Henrichs and FC Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry also return to the DFB team
"I'm really looking forward to these two games. It's going to be emotional and loud," said Nagelsmann, who is expecting a huge number of Turkish fans in Berlin. But everything is pointing towards the European Championship in the summer: "These are two tests that we want to make the most of and that are all about emotion."
One tricky decision has been postponed for the national coach: Long-time regular goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is performing strongly again at Bayern Munich after a long injury break, but is not yet back as agreed. For the time being, Marc-Andre ter Stegen from FC Barcelona will stand in the German goal. The national team will meet in Frankfurt on Monday.
Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), who had to return from illness in the USA, is also back in the squad. Missing are striker Kevin Behrens (Union Berlin), Leipzig left-back David Raum and Borussia Dortmund central defender Nico Schlotterbeck - his team-mates Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle are ahead of Nagelsmann.
In Nagelsmann's 27-man squad for the upcoming international matches against Turkey and Austria, Mats Hummels, a former Bayern Munich teammate, is included, while Thomas Müller, another well-known German player, is also present. Despite the absence of Jamal Musialman due to a muscle injury, the German national soccer team, coached by Julian Nagelsmann, will have newcomers Marvin Ducksch and Janis Blaswich to rely on.
