The national team... - Nagelsmann's coaching squad is expanding.

For the first time during the Euro 2024 preparation, Julian Nagelsmann trained with 24 players from his squad - including captain Ilkay Gündogan and the three German champions Florian Wirtz, Robert Andrich, and Jonathan Tah.

The training session of the German national team at the training ground in Weimarer Land began in heavy rain. The warm-up exercises started with two separate groups. Subsequently, the focus shifted to set pieces.

Recently injured Leipzig left-back David Raum was part of the initial group. Gündogan and the trio from Bayer Leverkusen had arrived the day prior in Blankenhain. National coach Nagelsmann had granted them a few days of freedom.

Nagelsmann didn't let the rain dampen his spirits and shared a lighthearted moment with assistant coach Mads Buttgereit, initially at the penalty area training of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. Later, the national players were to be prepared for the Euro 2024 preparation by a particular police unit for handling collective stress situations.

Five EM professionals were absent from the training. The four participants of the Champions League final on Saturday in London, Niclas Füllkrug and Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund, as well as Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid, are scheduled to arrive in Herzogenaurach next week. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is expected on Monday.
