Nagelsmann obtains a fresh option while retaining Sane and Rudiger.

Following the European Championship, national football team coach Julian Nagelsmann has only brought in one fresh face – midfielder Angelo Stiller from VfB Stuttgart. Stiller got the call-up 55 days after the disappointing quarter-final loss against Spain for the Nations League matches against Hungary (Düsseldorf, 7th September) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam, 10th September). Coach Nagelsman hasn't made a decision on the captaincy yet.

Since the retirements of Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan, Nagelsman needs to find replacements in midfield, he mentioned. Highlighting Stiller's "solid performances," the coach chose not to make any drastic changes. "For now, we don't need any significant changes in the squad," Nagelsman stated, expressing satisfaction with the team's performances during the European Championship. He added, "We want to give our Euro squad another chance to shine in the initial post-tournament games."

Defender Antonio Rudiger is taking a break to recharge, having had a hectic summer. Just like Leroy Sane, who recently underwent groin surgery, Bayern player Rudiger is given time to recover. Returning players to the squad include goalkeeper Alexander Nübel from Stuttgart and Aleksandar Pavlović from Bayern Munich, both missing the European Championship due to health issues.

On Monday, the team will regroup at the Adidas campus in Herzogenaurach, where Coach Nagelsman is expected to officially announce next in line for Gundogan's captain's armband. Barcelona's Marc-André ter Stegen has been earmarked as the new number one goalkeeper, following Manuel Neuer's departure. By the time the Hungary game rolls around, around 43,000 of the 49,235 available tickets have been sold.

The following paragraphs shall apply to the team's plans for the upcoming matches. Coach Nagelsmann has stated that they do not need significant changes in the squad at this time, preferring to give the Euro squad another chance to shine.
