Nagelsmann hints: Kimmich back at right back

The national coach did not want to confirm this definitively. He is talking about adjustments. And these could lead to Joshua Kimmich moving back into the right-back position.

National team - Nagelsmann hints: Kimmich back at right back

Julian Nagelsmann has held out the prospect of Joshua Kimmich returning to the right side of defense in the German national soccer team. "By making a small adjustment, it's not a 180-degree change, Josh is also a candidate in this position," Nagelsmann said on ZDF's "Aktuelle Sportstudio".

He had "of course" also spoken to the FC Bayern professional about it, Nagelsman emphasized: "I don't think it would be wise for me to sit here and say (it) without informing him."

So far, Nagelsmann has actually seen Kimmich in midfield. However, the 28-year-old was not necessarily convincing as a six alongside captain Ilkay Gündogan. However, the defense has not always been convincing in previous games either. Nagelsmann said he had never ruled out the possibility of Kimmich playing at right-back.

In the past two games, however, they had the idea of forming a back three when in possession with a right-back in the half-back position. "That's definitely not Josh's position," said Nagelsmann. Kimmich is a player who also occupies the position offensively and not just defending.
