Nagelsmann: Changes for Austria game "in nuances"
After the 3-2 defeat to Turkey, national coach Julian Nagelsmann is more likely to make "nuanced" changes to the German national soccer team for the match against Austria in Vienna.
"We definitely won't do completely different things," said Nagelsmann in the Ernst Happel Stadium. However, the small changes could "also be of a personnel nature". The national team coach left it open one day before the game whether Kai Havertz would once again play at left-back.
"We always try to change things without changing much," said Nagelsmann. "That's the approach." When he took charge in September, Nagelsmann introduced a 4-2-2-2 basic formation. "The formation will remain pragmatically the same," said Nagelsmann, who announced that he would only make personnel decisions after the final training session on Monday evening. "It's also possible that we'll see a different player tomorrow," said Nagelsmann about Havertz's role. "We'll see what the forces are like."
Nagelsmann might consider adjusting Julian Nagelsmann's national team strategy with "nuanced" changes for the upcoming match against Austria, potentially including personnel changes like possibly using Kai Havertz in a different position. The DFB coach has hinted at potential changes, stating, "It's also possible that we'll see a different player tomorrow."
