Intriguing "Pumuckl" revelation - Movie production has commenced.

Followers of the ginger-haired goblin, Pumuckl, are in for some excitement: Following the successful reboot of Pumuckl in 2023, there will not only be a second season, but also a movie! Constantin Film AG announced this news on June 4th in a press release, stating that filming for the theatrical adventure "Pumuckl and the Great Misunderstanding" has already commenced in Munich and surrounding areas. If all goes as planned, fans will be able to witness more Pumuckl mischief in the coming year.

Project Involving 13 Episodes

According to the press release, Constantin Film, Neuesuper, and RTL Germany are collaborating to create "a lot of heart" new Pumuckl content for the big screen, streaming services, and TV. The movie from Constantin Film is "in production," and is set to narrate its own standalone story that will make it to theaters in 2025. In contrast, a second season with 13 additional 25-minute-long episodes is in the works for RTL+, RTL, and Toggo. Back in February, RTL had confirmed their intentions for a series continuation. These episodes are slated to premiere on RTL+ first, and will later be broadcast on RTL, Toggo, and ORF.

The first season, titled "New Stories from Pumuckl," made its debut on RTL+ on December 11, 2023, after the initial three episodes played in selected cinemas. The linear RTL broadcast hit a market share of up to 18.5% among the 14-49 age group. In the modern adaptation of the 1980s children's series "Master Eder and his Pumuckl," Florian Bruckner (40) portrays Florian Eder, the nephew of the late Master Eder. He acquires his uncle's Munich workshop, where he encounters the goblin Pumuckl, voiced by renowned actor and cabaret artist Maxi Schafroth (39).

Other Well-Known Stars in the Project

As per the press release, "several well-known" actors and actresses are confirmed to appear in the upcoming second season and film. Head author and producer Korbinian Dufter of Neuesuper stated at the start of production, "Pumuckl is a "dear" endeavor for all those involved. "We are staying true to the careful modernization. With Eder and Pumuckl having met, we are spinning tales of big and small adventures brimming with mischief, warmth, and humor - with a few surprises."
