Money for sports - More funds: DOSB satisfied with federal budget

The German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) welcomes the German government's budget for 2025 and the planned strengthening of sports. "These positive signals come just a few days before the start of the Paris Olympics at the right time," said Torsten Burmester, Chairman of the DOSB.

Associations, athletes, and trainers can now focus on their performances at the Summer Games. "Political support gives us a boost," Burmester said in a statement. The sports budget is expected to increase from the current Bundesregierung-led government's will to 331 million Euros, an increase of 49 million Euros. This was decided by the Bundeskabinett. The draft will now be presented to the Bundestag.

The traffic light government intends to support the possible process of a German bid for Olympic and Paralympic Games with 2.2 million Euros. "The joint appeal of the top sports institutions and the numerous talks of the past weeks have had an effect," Burmester explained. The only sour note from the DOSB perspective is the "still missing support for grassroots sports," added the functionary.

  1. The German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) is excited about the German federal government's plan to boost the Olympic Games budget in Paris, as it aligns perfectly with the upcoming Olympiad.
  2. The increase in the sports budget from 282 million Euros to 331 million Euros, as proposed by the Federal government, is expected to significantly benefit various associations, athletes, and trainers preparing for the Olympics.
  3. The announcement of the Federal government's support for a potential German bid for future Olympic and Paralympic Games with 2.2 million Euros was praised by Torsten Burmester, the Chairman of DOSB.
  4. Frankfurt am Main, home to the DOSB, and various German sports institutions await the Bundestag's approval of the proposed sports budget increase and a potential German bid for future Olympic Games.
  5. Despite the positive developments, the German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) expressed concern about the lack of support for grassroots sports, which continues to be a significant challenge for the association.
