In a public declaration, they described Matija as the epitome of their National team, both the current and future embodiment of their team spirit. His untimely demise has shaken and saddened them deeply.
Similarly, Millwall, a soccer club based in England's second tier, shares the sentiments of Matija's family and friends. They extended their love and condolences to him, expressing their tremulous distress during this sorrowful time.
Matija joined Millwall from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023 and played 33 games for the London club. As a goalkeeper for Montenegro, he made nine appearances, starting against Belgium on June 5, which ended in a 2-0 win for Belgium in a friendly international.
