Second tier league - Miroslav Klose is now in charge of managing 1 FC Nuremberg.
Miroslav Klose, the prolific goalscorer, is all set to be the next coach at 1. FC Nuernberg in the German second division. Previously, he was a coach at SCR Altach in Austria, and he's now eager to make his mark in Germany.
"The principles the club stands for have won me over right away. I'm truly excited about it," said the 46-year-old. He signed a two-year contract.
"Miro is an exceptionally meticulous and detail-oriented coach who not only gathered tons of experience and knowledge during his illustrious playing career but has also honed a clear idea of what it takes to succeed on the field and in the locker room," said the newly-appointed sports director Joti Chatzialexiou. "We've got our work cut out for us." Bringing in Klose is expected to aid in the transfer market.
A Track Record in Bayern and Austria
Klose will take over from Cristian Fiel. The former national player earned coaching experience at FC Bayern Munich's U17 team and as an assistant coach for the pros, as well as working with the DFB. After that, Klose moved to Austria. "I didn't hesitate for a moment about the 'Club' offer," said Klose about the offer.
"The club boasts a solid foundation for their youth development, which we aim to expand upon," said Klose. He's known Chatzialexiou for a long time, and they share the same approach to the game. "Now it's time to get down to work and steer the season towards better territory," said Klose. Chatzialexiou had previously held a leadership role at the German Football Association.
Klose has a clear vision
During Chatzialexiou's presentation last week, he had announced that Fiel would part ways with the club earlier than expected. Fiel is seeking a fresh challenge at Hertha BSC.
"Clubs like St. Pauli, Leverkusen, and Stuttgart, which all succeed with a similar style of play - that's the direction for the future," said Chatzialexiou a week ago. Chatzialexiou hopes to establish "a strong duo or trio of leaders" on the field. This is now Klose's responsibility to fulfill.
