Miroslav Klose ignites enormous euphoria at the 'Club'
Miroslav Klose made a big impact at 1. FC Nürnberg in a short time. The coach is pleased with his team's progress. The "Club" seems well-prepared for the 2. Liga. A youngster copying Klose's legendary goal celebration leaves the World Cup winner unmoved.
Just before the start of the 2. Bundesliga, Nürnberg's new coach Miroslav Klose caused a stir. Dustin Forkel's wild goal celebration a la Klose was the perfect emotional climax for an extremely promising season preparation of 1. FC Nürnberg. The prominent new coach was even touched by the euphoria of Youngster Forkel, his team, and the over 30,000 "Club" fans on the sidelines.
A 3:0 against Juventus Turin doesn't come every day, even though it was only a test game a week before the start of the 2. Football Bundesliga. A goal against Juve? That was worth a flip for the 19-year-old Forkel. But it wasn't a special message from the striker to the applauding boss on the sidelines. "I don't watch Miro Klose's goal celebration, but his performance," Forkel later beamed about the "indescribable feeling" of facing such a big opponent as Juve.
"I won't stop him from doing the flip"
And Klose, who once stormed for Lazio Rom against Juve? "I won't stop him from doing the flip, because he does it better than I do," said the former world-class striker to Forkel's celebration. Klose lets the youngsters run. "They deserve to play a little longer. What they've accomplished in four weeks, I have to reward them for," he said.
The especially noticeable newcomer Caspar Jander (21) and the offensive talents Forkel (19) and Tim Janisch (18) missed out on Italy's record champions, who are currently in training camp in Franconia and did not field their best team. "We shouldn't overrate the game. But we've done many things well and can draw a lot of self-confidence from the game," said midfielder Jander.
2. League with many traditional clubs
With FC Schalke, Hamburger SV, Hertha BSC, 1. FC Cologne, or even Nürnberg, the Bundesliga basement is unusually well-stocked. Klose was pleased with his players and also with the fans, who after years of sadness finally feel the joy of good and successful second league football - the "Club" could be a surprise.
But Klose has been in professional business long enough to realistically assess the preparation with a view to the league business on Saturday against Karlsruher SC. "We know that it was Juve's first test game," said Klose. And yet he saw exactly what he had demanded from his team: "We played bravely with the ball. We didn't lose our heads in difficult phases. That pleased me. The things we want to see are improving." There are still "construction sites," even in the still not finished squad: "But many things are already further along than I had hoped."
In the upcoming 2. Bundesliga season, 1.FC Nürnberg will be led by Miroslav Klose, who has made a significant impact in his short time at the club. Dustin Forkel, a young player for Nürnberg, recently reenacted Klose's famous goal celebration during a pre-season game, leaving Klose unaffected but impressed by the euphoria around it.
